TAMPA, Fla. — Mike’s Pies is just as busy as Santa’s workshop this time of year, but the only difference is they aren’t making toys; they are baking pies.
“Always chaotic because we have all the wholesale orders that need to go out plus the Thanksgiving pies that still need to be made by hand,” said Luke Martin, VP of sales, as he looked out over the large scale operation at their Tampa headquarters.
This family business has always made time for the community; it’s their secret recipe.
“My dad used to go throughout the neighborhood and give away free pies, and that’s how the whole business got started,” said Martin.
This Thanksgiving, more than ever, the community is in need. So Mike’s Pies teamed up with the ad agency, Bake More Pies, to make some sweet deliveries.
“Well, naturally, the name of our company is Bake More Pies, we were like thinking, let’s go out and deliver as many pies as we can find,” said Cordes Owen with Bake More Pies.
“We wanted to show our thanks to the people who are literally putting their lives on the line to keep us safe,” said Martin.
Medical professionals across Tampa were greeted with some of Mike’s Pies signature creations.
“We got the key lime, the apple, the pumpkin pie, pumpkin cheesecake and the southern pecan pie,” said Martin.
These companies say it looks like the start of a Thanksgiving tradition.
“The little things are what matter, and so are the look on the faces of the nurses and doctors when they get these pies,” said Cordes.
